Self Reflection, the Key to Change
One of the key elements to creating a healthier and more satisfying life is to learn the art of self reflection. But first, we have to remember that we all came into this world the same way... but everything since has been different. We have all essentially been "programmed" differently based on our surroundings. Some of us have been loved more than others. Some of us have been through traumatic experiences. Some of us have even been sexually or physically abused. Some grew up poor while others knew wealth.
When you learn to self reflect upon your own "programming".. you can begin to understand why you are the way you are, why you think the way you do, and why you feel the things you feel. The first step is to learn to hold an internal monologue with yourself. Don't talk to yourself out loud or someone may have you committed! Find a quiet place to relax and start asking yourself questions. There may be things that you see that you want to change or to understand about yourself. Learn to withdraw and look at yourself and your life as if it were someone else's. Is this person happy? Does this person lead a healthy life? Why or why not? What do they want? Where are they going? Do they get angry often? Do they have coping mechanisms? What makes them tick??
The answers to these questions are everywhere. They may even surprisingly emerge from your own inner thoughts! But learn to seek out the answers to your questions... for they won't fall into your lap.
Please comment below with any thoughts or questions! I would love to continue this in the form of conversation.
