Pennsylvania Dutch Slippery Chicken Pot Pie
Slippery Chicken Pot Pie
This is a great home cooking like granny use to make kind of meal. This is a meal my grandmother would make and with any meal the more time and love that goes into it, the better it will taste. This is a meal that is budget friendly. Pretty much all the old time recipes are made with nothing fancy because they could not afford anything fancy back then. This is a great meal to make for a large group on a cold night. Its very filling and warms you up. You can even freeze it and eat it later. Honestly its better the second day in my opinion. Enjoy!!!

Cooking
- cook on medium to high heat
Equipment
- Large Cooking Pot
- 1 Sharp Knife
- 1 Large Mixing Bowl
- 1 Wisk
- 1 Large Spoon
- 1 Cutting Board
- About 1/2 to 3/4 full of hot water.
- 1 Jar Chicken Base
- 4 lbs Chicken Pieces (or 2 whole picked Rotisserie Chickens)
- 1 Large Chopped Onion
- 1/2 Cup Parsley
- 1 Tbs pepper
- 1 Tbs Salt
- 8 Lbs Diced Potatoes
- 6 Eggs
- 2 Cups Milk
- 5 Cups Flour (or until dough is not sticky anymore)
Instructions
1. Put hot water in the large pot.
2. Add chicken base, salt, pepper, parsley and onion.
3. Then add potatoes and bring to a boil.
4. While you are waiting for the pot to boil make your dough
5. Beat eggs in a large bowl.
6. Add milk and beat again.
7. Add flour a little at a time, mixing at all times. Mix in flour until dough isn't sticky.
8.Divide dough into portions and roll a portion at a time out on a floured table. Roll until about 1/8" thick. Cut into 2-3" squares. The thinner you get the dough the faster it will cook.
9. Drop a handful of squares of dough (1 piece at a time) into the boiling broth.
10. Stir after each handful and continue the process until the pot is full of dough.
11. Turn the stove to low heat and let cook for 15 minutes. Then add chicken and stir.
12. Let it cook for 15 more minutes and turn off. Enjoy!!!
